Congratulations to our February Athletes of the Month Brighton Williams (cheer) and Edson Romero (wrestling) way to represent the Ridge in all that you do.
Brighton Williams Senior Captain of this years cheer leading squad. She has been a cheerleader for 6 years, 3 years here at Northridge. Brighton also is a member of the Volleyball team and Track team. Doing all this she still maintains a 3.9 GPA. Coach McCord had this to say about her “Brighton is such a delight to coach she is always positive and looking our for others. She helped start the clothing pantry here at Northridge as well”. Brighton said her “WHY” for doing cheer is you can be a leader and an example to your school, and it helps to always push myself to do better. Her role model is her older sister because she always pushed herself to succeed in academics and athletics which is what Brighton does. After high school Brighton would like to cheer in college and serve an LDS Mission. Her favorite subject is Math, favorite food is chicken tenders, favorite music is country and favorite movie is Just Go With It.

Coach Kennington had this to say about him “Edson finished the season with the most team take downs (80), 5th most escapes in school history (58), placed 5th in the State, and earned two team awards, Ultimate Teammate and Off-Season Wrestler of the Year. Edson was a great leader for our team both on and off the mat. He will be missed next season.” Edson said his reason for playing sports is for the simple grind and rush I’m able to have on a daily basis. His Role Models are Coach Kennington, Mr. Hunt, Mr. Lovell and all the other coaches in sports departments because of the time they put into making him a top student-athlete. After high school he plans on serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His favorite subject is Sports Medicine, favorite food is steak tacos, favorite music is country and favorite movie is Kung Fu Panda and Creed II.
